After retiring from a career as a tree lopper, Bruce was looking for a hands-on activity that would keep him busy while continuing to work with a material he had always admired. What began as a hobby soon grew into a passion for wood carving.
Bruce creates beautifully handcrafted bowls and functional timber pieces, allowing each piece of wood to inspire the shape and form of the finished creation. Rather than forcing the timber to fit a design, he works with its natural grain, character and contours to reveal its unique beauty.
He has a particular appreciation for using burls—those distinctive growths found on trees—to craft stunning bowls with striking patterns and unusual shapes. Every piece is one of a kind, celebrating the individuality of the timber and Bruce's creative eye for bringing out its natural beauty.
