Eyzer DesignsAfter thirty years of dyeing and painting silk using all sorts of synthetic dyes I have now discovered the joy of creating artworks using natural plants as a dye source. My whole approach to my creative achievement is about the process. The dyeing becomes …a journey. Finding something new that might create a colour, the collection, the cooking , the decision making of what mordant to use, and then the final result. Sometimes good, sometimes not what you expected.
Living on a cattle property is very handy for plant collection as I have an unlimited source at the back door. I just need more hours in the day to try every plant, tree bark, seed pod and berries that I collect. And then there are the seasonal changes which also alter the colours achieved. Sue Jurd |
