Murrungundy Pistachios - Peter Fleming, Elong Elong NSW
The Murrungundy pistachio orchard is on 12.5 ha of our farm beside the Talbragar River, which is also home to our Doreen Poll Merino flock #3 and small Angus herd. The house was built in 1855 and the orchard was planted by Richard and Hugh Barton from 1979. We inherited a well-established pistachio business and enjoy making and selling all our pistachio flavours and fragrant dukkah. Lynne, son Hugh and I love the old house and farm with its happy livestock and abundant birdlife (we could do without the cockatoos, though) and our pistachios really are the nuts that smile.
