Coolibah Hills Honey - Kaye Brown, Cambooya Qld
In the backyard, Kaye's father tended a few beehives over the years, providing the family with a steady supply of honey. Though Kaye initially shied away from the bees due to their stings, her uncle, who had grown fond of the hives, struggled to find someone to take over his passion upon retirement. Eventually, Kaye found herself inheriting the hives, and surprisingly, she caught the bug - quite literally.
Fast forward four years, and Kaye, along with her business partner Liz and life partner Peter, now manages a thriving apiary with 50 hives, embracing the entire "paddock to plate" process - from caring for the bees to harvesting, bottling, and selling the honey. What began as a simple retirement hobby has evolved into an unexpectedly fulfilling and almost full-time occupation!
